In 2017, my husband Karim and I traveled to Erfoud, near the Moroccan desert, where we discovered a deep connection to the land, its culture, and the significance of date palms. Karim’s roots trace back to this region, and for both of us, dates have always been more than food. They are a tradition, a ritual, and a link to our heritage.

When our son, Assil, was born, we followed the ancestral ritual of placing a date in his mouth, reinforcing our bond with this fruit. This moment led me to explore the power of date seeds, uncovering their incredible health benefits—ten times those of the fruit itself. It was then that I saw an opportunity to bridge cultures through a forgotten treasure: the date seed.

DATTA was born not just as a coffee alternative but as a tribute to tradition and sustainability. Crafted by an intergenerational group of 25 women in South Morocco, who work with care and community support, DATTA embodies excellence in artisanal production.

We collaborate in a way that honors each maker’s expertise, ensuring a balance between craftsmanship and market presence.

This journey is about more than a product; it’s about celebrating the date palm and the communities that sustain it. With DATTA, we bring a taste of heritage to the specialty coffee scene in Europe and beyond.
